Distractions that will help you get over your exPosted by: Emily | Posted on: July 9, 2012
Everybody has been here at some point, and everybody knows that getting over your ex can feel like an impossible task when you’re in the midst of a breakup. Everybody has a different breakup style too. Some people become hermits, lock themselves in their room, watch sad movies, listen to sad music and order all their food for delivery. Some people on the other hand go on a crazy party binge to get their mind off of things. They’ll drink more than usual, do drugs, and stay out until the sun comes up.
But both of those things don’t really contribute to any positive progress in terms of getting over your ex. Here are some things that can help you on your way to getting over your ex. Now that you’re single, you probably have a a lot more time on your hands, so start calling old friends that you haven’t seen for a while. Ask them for coffee or a drink to catch up. You’ll have tons to talk about and you’ll be able to hear about what’s new in their life, hence distracting you from yours.
Another good thing to do is to try to pick up a new hobby. Sewing? Knitting? Blogging? Running? Whatever it is, pick something and work hard at it. It will do wonders for your mental state, and it’ll help you get back into the swing of putting yourself first. Mastering a new skill will also give you back some much needed confidence, because breakups tend to make most people feel shitty about themselves for a bit afterwards. Try doing something new and before you know it you’ll be over your ex.
